Coaching is a professional relationship between the coach and the client that is designed to facilitate the creation and development of personal goals, and to allow the coach and client to work together achieve those goals.
Coaching does not involve the diagnosis or treatment of mental disorders as defined by the American Psychiatric Association.
Coaching is not a substitute for counseling, psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, mental health care or substance abuse treatment. It is not intended to take the place of professional counseling or medical or psychological care, and should not be used in place of, or as a substitute for, professional diagnosis and treatment.
Coaching is not a substitute for professional advice by legal, medical, mental health, financial, business, spiritual, or other qualified professionals. Independent professional guidance is to be sought for legal, medical, financial, business, spiritual, or other matters. The client is exclusively responsible for all decisions in all areas of the client’s life; the client’s decisions and actions are the client’s sole responsibility.
The client is entirely responsible for the client’s physical, mental, and emotional well-being during the coaching sessions, including the client’s choices and decisions.
All of the coach’s instructions and any information provided are, and are intended to be, strictly educational in nature, providing information, instruction, support, and encouragement.
The coach is not a licensed physician or licensed mental health professional or psychologist, and does not hold themself out to provide any form of health care or psychotherapy. The coach does not represent their services as any form of medical, behavioral, or mental health care.
